Frequently asked questions

Quotes & booking
How do I get a quote?

Send us your shipment details through the Request a Quote form or email info@salvorproject.com. Include the origin, destination, cargo description and your timeline, and our team will respond — usually within one business day.

What information do you need to prepare a quote?

The more detail, the more accurate the quote. Helpful information includes the commodity, total weight and dimensions (or number of pallets/containers), pickup and delivery locations, your preferred Incoterms, the cargo-ready date, and any special handling requirements such as temperature control or oversized dimensions.

Do you handle both imports and exports?

Yes. Salvor manages inbound and outbound freight across all major trade lanes, acting as a single accountable partner from origin to destination.

Shipping modes & transit
Which transport modes do you offer?

Ocean freight (FCL and LCL), air freight, road transportation, and RO-RO shipping for wheeled cargo — plus warehousing, and charter and project cargo for oversized or heavy consignments. We frequently combine modes to balance cost, speed and reliability.

What is the difference between FCL and LCL?

FCL (Full Container Load) means a container is used exclusively for your cargo. LCL (Less than Container Load) means your goods share a container with other shipments and you pay only for the space they occupy. FCL is generally more economical for larger volumes; LCL suits smaller shipments that don't fill a container.

How long will my shipment take?

Transit time depends on the mode and trade lane. Air freight is typically measured in days, ocean freight in weeks, and road transport varies with distance and border crossings. We provide an estimated transit time with every quote and keep you updated at each milestone.

Can you handle oversized, heavy or project cargo?

Yes — it's a core specialism. We manage route surveys, permits, lifting and lashing plans, escorts and on-site coordination, and arrange full or part vessel charters where required.

Customs, documents & insurance
Do you arrange customs clearance and documentation?

Yes. We coordinate the required documentation and customs clearance alongside the physical transport, so paperwork is ready and cargo doesn't sit waiting at the border.

Which Incoterms should I use?

Incoterms are standardised trade terms that define who is responsible for cost, risk and formalities at each stage of a shipment (for example EXW, FOB, CIF or DAP). The right choice depends on your commercial agreement — our team is happy to advise so responsibilities are clear on both sides.

Is my cargo insured?

Carrier liability is limited by international convention and is not the same as cargo insurance. For valuable or sensitive goods we strongly recommend all-risk cargo insurance, which we can arrange — ask your coordinator for details.

Tracking & support
Can I track my shipment?

Yes. Shipments are coordinated in real time with proactive milestone updates, and our operations team is available 24/7 if you need a status at any point.

Do you offer warehousing and storage?

Yes. We provide secure short- and long-term storage for general, oversized and project cargo, including receiving, consolidation, inventory management and dispatch.

Which regions do you cover?

Our network spans six continents — the Americas, Europe, the Far East & Asia, the Middle East & Gulf, Africa, and Russia & the CIS — coordinated from our hubs in İstanbul and Dubai. See our network & coverage for more.
